Managing Stress for IT Workers
Managers - this is for your team

IT professionals often face demanding schedules, tight deadlines, and the pressure of maintaining critical systems. This fast-paced environment can take a toll on mental health if stress isn’t managed effectively. Whether you're working onsite or remotely, here are practical tips to help you manage workplace stress and maintain a healthier mindset.
Onsite Workers: Create Boundaries and Recharge
Take Micro-Breaks: Even a 5-minute walk or stretch can help reset your focus.
Leverage Team Support: Don’t hesitate to ask colleagues for assistance or brainstorming when a task feels overwhelming. Collaboration lightens the load.
Set Workspace Comforts: Personalize your desk with calming elements like plants or family photos (or a Nerf gun?). A comfortable chair and proper monitor setup can also reduce physical strain.
Use Quiet Zones: If your workplace offers a quiet room or similar space, use it to decompress when needed.
Remote Workers: Maintain Structure and Self-Care
Define Start and End Times: When your office only a few steps away, it’s easy to blur boundaries. Commit to clear work hours.
Step Away from the Desk: Take lunch breaks in another room or go for a quick outdoor walk to reset your energy.
Limit Screen Fatigue: Use blue-light filters and schedule non-screen time between meetings to refresh.
Build Social Connections: Remote work can be isolating. Schedule regular virtual check-ins with teammates or join online communities of IT professionals. Face-to-face time with a few people can be very refreshing!
Universal Tips for Non-Management Roles
Prioritize Tasks: Break large goals into smaller, manageable steps, and tackle the most urgent ones first.
Embrace Learning: When challenges arise, see them as growth opportunities rather than setbacks. Learning a new “thing” uses your brain differently than the same day-to-day work does.
Speak Up: If workloads feel unmanageable, communicate with your manager to find solutions.
Practice Mindfulness: Apps like Headspace or Calm can guide quick meditation sessions to reduce stress levels.
The Bottom Line:
Stress is part of IT, but it doesn’t have to dominate your work experience. By incorporating these strategies into your daily routine, you can maintain both your productivity and well-being. Share your favorite stress-busting techniques with me. I’d love to learn what works for you!

That’s it. Busy week…everything else I read was technical documentation on AZCopy parameters 😊
SQL tidBITs:
AZCopy is great! But…the parameters and format are a mess. It took me way too many hours to realize that I needed double-quotes around the pattern in the --Include-Pattern option. Sadly, as I type this TidBit I found this:
